Khmer Creations- Creating opportunities for disadvantaged Cambodian producers.

Here at Fair Trade Oxfam Shop in Bayswater, we love our ethical accessories. Khmer Creations Australia is an ethical fair trading company who design and sell beautiful gifts and accessories made by Cambodian social enterprises while Khmer Creations Jewellery Studio in Cambodia is manufactures and wholesales a unique range of jewellery for the international market. Managed and staffed by Khmer women, the studio provides skills training and secure employment to young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

While some essential jewellery supplies must travel from Thailand, the majority of accessories are produced from a range of interesting locally sourced materials. These include woven silk, metal hardware washers, cutlery, buttons, coconuts and seeds and from this has grown a vibrant collection that distinguishes itself from most other jewellery.

Buffalo Bank Donation

At our meeting yesterday we decided that we could donate $2000 to an Oxfam Buffalo Bank,. In doing so we, along with many others  are helping communities help themselves. Thanks to these gentle giants, Cambodian families are growing more food, earning an income and transforming their lives.

Thanks to our wonderful group members, volunteers and customers in this financial year the Fair Trade Group have been able to donate over $9,000 dollars to  Oxfam Appeals and Programs, sold over $8,000 in Unwrapped cards and sent nearly a thousand dollars to the Oxfam campaign team.
